Pelkor Chode Monastery – Tibet Local Guide

Pelkor Chode Monastery (Baiju Temple) was built in 1427. It is a typical Tibetan Buddhist monastery with a combination of pagodas and temples. There are temples in the pagoda and the pagodas in the temple. The pagodas are naturally formed and complement each other. They are located in the northeast corner of Gyangze County, about 230 south of Lhasa. Thousands of kilometers, about 100 kilometers east of Shigatse, with an altitude of 3900 meters. The Tibetan meaning of Baiju Temple is abbreviated as “Bangkok Deqing”, which means “Auspicious Wheel Dale Temple”, and belongs to the national key cultural relics protection unit.

The Baiju Temple was established in a situation where all the denominations in Tibet resisted rituals and were evenly matched. Therefore, it can gather Sakya, Gelug, Kadang and other factions to coexist peacefully in a monastery. Each denomination has five or six in this monastery. “Zhacang”. The temple currently has 16 Zhacang. This gives it a special position and influence in the history of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Cochin Basilica in the temple has a history of almost 500 years. The main hall of the Jingtang enshrines the Three Buddhas, and there are east and west pure earth temples on both sides of it. Because of the compatibility with the three religions of flower, white and yellow, the style of the statue of the whole temple is also different from other places, and the performance of this temple is most obvious. There is a gilt bronze statue of Qiangpa Buddha in the northwest of Jingtang, which is 8 meters high and is said to have been cast from 14,000 kilograms of brass. The hall is 3 storeys high, and underneath is the Great Scripture Hall with 48 columns, which are covered with ancient silk woven Thangka statues. The second floor of the Cochin Basilica is the Laki Hall, where the highest-level “Laki Conference” of the entire temple is held. There are also several Buddhist temples around. A three-meter-diameter mandala in Judeng Temple and the statues of Bodhisattva Manjushri and Eighteen Arhats in Dongxiang Temple have a history of 500 years. On the third floor, there is a shrine called Shayala Kang. The mandala frescoes in the hall are quite famous, and the six-ring round lotus algae is also rare.

Pelkhor Chode Monastery Travel Tips

Entering the gate, there are two rows of rotating cylinders arranged on the side of the road! A large exhibition Buddha platform is standard in every temple, and Baiju Temple is no exception! The sudden appearance of the White Pagoda made me immediately excited, and the famous Tower King jumped into my eyes inadvertently! Because it is close to the evening, the time is 6:30, although the sun is high, but the main hall of the temple is no longer allowed to enter, we went directly to see the white pagoda! There are many monasteries in Tibet, most famous are Jokhang Temple, Tashilunpo Temple, Samye Temple, Drepung Temple and so on. Compared with Baiju Temple, it has something special, its architectural style is very different, and its religious culture is also very unique. The white pagoda in front of you is a five-story building surrounded by octagonal, bright lines, unique style, and solemn and solemn. At the same time, the integration of various denominational cultures has also contributed to the unique characteristics of temple architecture, mural art and other temples that are different from other temples.

One of the characteristics of Baiju Temple is that one temple accommodates three factions, coexisting peacefully, and living in peace. It is a typical Tibetan Buddhist temple building combining pagodas and temples. There are pagodas in the temple and temples in the pagoda. There are more than one hundred thousand Buddha statues painted in the hall, hence the name of one hundred thousand stupa. Entering from the entrance of Tashi can go up the stairs to the top of the tower. If you can’t find the stairs to go up, it’s better to go around. Some of them are really hidden. It is rare that after experiencing such a war, the murals in Baijutari are still relatively complete. I only hope that better technology and experts can restore the mural. It is gratifying that the Baita is under repair because we heard cheerful songs that it was Tibetan women working against Aga. And for such temple repair work, the craftsmen are basically regarded as unpaid, almost negligible remuneration, and have to work for a long time. Such unpaid behavior is all because of faith. Religious culture is a very important part of Tibetan culture, and temple culture is a concentrated reflection of Tibetan religious culture. Therefore, visiting and experiencing temple culture feels like exploring and comprehending the unique human history of the snowy plateau, which is very beneficial.

Gyantse Farmland Tour – Tibetan Village Trip-Tibet Local Guide

There is a smell of ghee burning everywhere, does this thing attract flies? Anyway, they can be seen flying everywhere. The rooms enshrined by the Buddha on the first floor of the nine-story white pagoda are all open. A very small room with several Buddha statues enshrined around them. It is not very clear about religious matters. Anyway, there are many names of Buddha. People can’t remember. The upper layers are under maintenance, and below you hear the melodious singing voice, which has a sense of rhythm and melody. Only when I got to the tower did I find the source of the sound. It was a song sang by the Tibetan women while they were working. The rhythm and the old rhythm were very good. The handle is very long, people stand thrashing, very interesting, this is the real working people, enjoyment in pain. There is also a Buddha shop on the hillside behind the White Pagoda, which is not open for climbing, but here you can overlook the whole scene, the scenery is pleasant, the mood is good, take a selfie.”
