China Mobile’s “5G Mount Everest” activity plans to build five 5G base stations in the form of SA + NSA networking at the Mount Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5300 meters, the Transition Camp at 5800 meters, and the Advance Camp at 6500 meters. In order to guarantee the operation, China Mobile sent more than 150 employees in charge of construction and maintenance. At the same time, the 177 km transmission trunk line around the Everest guarantee area and the node machine rooms along the line were upgraded, upgraded and maintained, opened the Lhasa-Chengdu core network, and newly laid 25 kilometers of optical cables in the high and cold areas at an altitude of 5300 meters, 5800 meters and 6500 meters. , Through carrying 8 tons of network construction equipment and life support materials on the shoulder, carrying 3 3G base stations and five 5G base stations simultaneously, 12 network maintenance and optimization personnel insist on 7*24 hours on an area above 5300 meters above sea level, Ensure smooth network and good performance in the Everest region.
This project is another more difficult, more challenging, and more difficult general security task for China Mobile after securing the communications support for the Olympic Torch Mount Everest in 2007. The 5G base station construction technology is more complicated, the construction volume is larger, and the construction environment requirements are higher. Since the Everest Base Camp and the above areas belong to the National Nature Reserve, it is very difficult to transport materials and enter the site.
In order not to damage the natural ecological environment in the core area of Mount Everest, the armored optical cable with the least damage to the natural environment is used for construction during the design of the construction plan to ensure that it will not be excavated or destroyed in the core area; China sets up a living area in a unified way and centrally disposes of domestic and construction waste.
